Boyes-Sitler passionately portrays on canvas her florals, landscapes and farm
animals from her Cherish Creek Studio in the quaint little Village of Vankoughnet
in Muskoka, Ontario. Boyes-Sitler returned to Muskoka in 1991 to live and
work in her family home. She teaches painting from her studio and is the founder
of the large group of painters known as The Village Painters. Her most recent
endeavour, the writing of “The Winnie Stories”, has brought a
refreshing new opportunity to express her creative spirit.
As a result of an extensive biography of her life as an artist prepared and submitted by art consultant Robert Britnell, Boyes-Sitler received confirmation and she is now recognized as a Canadian Artist by the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa and the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto.
In March, 2002 the Bracebridge Examiner writes: “One of Muskoka’s finest oil painters is thrilled that her vintage Muskoka scenes have been recorded for posterity at two of Canada’s leading art institutions.” Boyes-Sitler is quoted as saying: “I am one of the lucky ones who discovered my passion for painting early in life and have had the opportunity to develop it for many years.” The writing of “The Winnie Stories” is an extension of that early passion.
She has been involved in many juried shows and has had numerous shows in Toronto and surrounding regions. This includes shows at the Kathleen Gormley MacKay Gallery in Unionville, Ontario, owned and operated by the Frederick Horseman Varley Gallery, Markham, and at the Chapel Gallery in Bracebridge, Ontario, where she first exhibited the “Winnie” paintings.
In 2004 she was awarded the Y.W.C.A. “Women of Distinction Award” in the Arts for Muskoka. She was also featured in the February 2005 issue of the Muskoka magazine in an article entitled “A Home to Cherish”.
